Admissions Standards
The Department of College Education has updated its Admissions Standards Reference Guide for 2019. Specific data outlining the revisions to the document can be establish in this memorandum.

Meeting the minimum standards does non guarantee admission, since admissions officers consider a wide range of factors when reviewing students' applications, and the land universities and UMass campuses can establish boosted requirements. Land Universities and Academy of Massachusetts
The admissions standards for the state universities and University of Massachusetts emphasize strong academic training while in high school. These standards correspond minimum requirements; meeting them does not guarantee admission, since college officials consider a wide range of factors in admissions decisions.
The admissions standards for freshmen applicants to the state universities and University of Massachusetts take several components:
- fulfillment of all requirements for the high school diploma or its equivalent;
- submission of an SAT or ACT score (Please refer to the list beneath of Fall 2019 Country Universities and UMass Campuses with Test Optional Prgrams. For more information, contact the admissions function of the institution(s) for which the student is interested in applying);
- 17 required academic courses; and
- minimum required grade point average (GPA) earned in college preparatory courses completed at the fourth dimension of awarding.
Institutions with Examination Optional Programs
This table is not inclusive of all test optional policies at each establishment. Some institutions may require examination scores from students who are domicile schooled or attend a schoolhouse that bug narratives on the transcript in place of letter/number grades.
